Does Morro Negrito need big swell for the waves to work?

Morro Negrito has several surf spots that pick up almost any size swell. Beach breaks tend to close-out when the surf is big. Our reef and point breaks can hold almost any size surf.

Are credit cards accepted?

Yes, we accept Visa and MasterCard.

What currency does Panama use?

Panama uses the United States Dollar.

How are days charged?

Arrival and departure days are charged at 50%. Most of the time the arrival day and departure day is charged as one day.

Can I drink the water at the surf camp?

Yes, the water comes from a private fresh water spring.

What is the closest airport to Morro Negrito?

The closest airport is in David, Panama. The airport code for the David airport is DAV. Though, flights to the Panama City airport tend to be priced better. The airport code for the Panama City airport is PTY. We can arrange transportation from either airport.

How do I travel from Costa Rica to Morro Negrito?

You can catch a bus to Paso Canoas. Cross the border and catch a bus heading to David or Panama City. Exit the bus in Guabala.

How do I travel from the Panama City airport to Morro Negrito?

We arrange for, but do not pay for your transportation to our port. This means that we will have a driver waiting for you at the airport. The driver will charge $35 to take you from the Panama City airport to the bus station. At the bus station you will purchase a bus ticket for ~$15 to Guabala. The bus ride is ~5 hours and you will stop once in Santiago for about 15 minutes to get food or use the restroom. It is obvious when you reach Guabala because it is an immigration checkpoint and they always stop the buses to check passports. Exit the bus in Guabala and we will have a taxi waiting for you. The drive from Guabala to our port has a duration of about 15 minutes. The boat ride from the port to the island has a duration of about 20 minutes.

What options are available for transportation from Panama City to Morro Negrito?

Public bus or private taxi. The public bus will cost $15 and the private taxi will cost $250.

Do I need to bring towels?

Yes, please bring beach towels. We do not provide towels.

Is soap and shampoo provided?

No, we do not provide shampoo or soap.

Can I have a private room?

Yes, we can provide a private room at no additional cost.

What is the best time of year for consistent surf?

May to September for overhead surf. October to December works too, but not as consistent. January to April are flat months.

Are beers and sodas available?

Yes, beers and sodas are available at $1.50 each.

Can I reserve the entire surf camp?

If you have 10 or more people, we can reserve the entire surf camp for you.

Do I need to bring a flashlight?

Please bring a flashlight. Trails around the camp are not iluminated.

Is there internet in the rooms?

No internet in the rooms. Though, the eating area has internet 24/7.

Can vegeterian meals be prepared?

Yes, we can provide vegeterian meals.
